When I turned sixteen, my grandmother took me with her to Toronto to meet a part of our family. She had already made this journey before. She was my age when she embarked leaving Sicily to meet my grandfather, whom she had married by proxy. One day, I asked her to tell me the story of her life. She revealed secrets, desires, and shattered dreams. That’s how Tinta was born. To redress an injustice and give a voice to the unheard. It is a journey toward awareness, a way to challenge the darkness and find the courage to choose our own path.
